Friday Drool

Image courtesy of Broome & The Kimberley Holidays

Ever since I came across a picture of Cable Beach when I was about 13, I have wanted to visit.  Look at that picture perfect white sand, the crisp blue water and cloudless sky - why wouldn't you want to go there?

One day we'll get there and one day soon hopefully.  And when we do, I'll definitely be doing this...

33

Such a nice round looking number...

It’s my birthday next week and surprisingly I am actually looking forward to it this year and not especially worried about getting older.  I think a large part of the anticipation is because this year will be my first as a mother – it’s odd saying it but it really is something special to me.

The year I turned 29 was the year I truly struggled with my age.  All the wrinkles seemed to magnify, the excess weight was doubled, hell even tripled, as far as I was concerned and the looming thirties were too scary to imagine.  Fast forward to 30 and I’d managed to lose a lot of the additional weight, I’d become a blonde and looking back now, I wasn’t very happy.  My, how things change...

You always hear about how you become more comfortable with yourself when you get older and I think 33 might just be that magic year for me.  I’m excited about the future and what it holds, not only for me but for my family as a whole.

BRING IT ON!!!

Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day!

What are you getting up to today?  Me?  Well, apart from the obligatory barbecue later this afternoon (we wouldn't be Australian if we didn't), Daddy BuBbles and I are up nice and early this morning ready to go for an early morning drive to Dee Why.  We'll take a walk along the beach and then saunter up to the cafe strip and grab some breakfast.  As soon as BuBba wakes up, off we go!

Have a great day!

New Bed Time!

Quartz range from Snooze

Hoorah!  Finally a new bed and bedside tables have been ordered and a mattress to boot.  Doesn't sound terribly exciting does it?  Except that this is the second bed I have ever purchased.  Now I guess there's nothing wrong with my Ikea bedroom suite that I've had for over 10 years now but the mattress is old and my back is even older so in the interests of comfort, pain relief and uniformity, it was time to not only upgrade the mattress but also the bed and bedside tables to match the chocolate brown dresser we have.

The bedhead we chose is a soft chocolate brown leather and the side tables will have three drawers.  Oh my gosh, you have no idea how excited I am to have drawers in my side tables...  No really.... So so SOOOO excited!  My Ikea side tables are open and as such always look messy.  Now I can chuck all my junk, ie, jewellery, magazines, books, hand creams etc, into the drawers and everything will look just pretty.

Now to learn some patience because delivery time is estimated at 8 weeks. Arrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Friday Drool

I've decided that Friday will become Drool Day.  It will feature something that I am lemming... of which there are many :)

First to feature is this gorgeous Givenchy Ombre bag that I spotted over at Bag Snob.  Forever in search of stylish bag that has a long body strap, this bag suits all the criteria.  The soft distressed black leather that Bag Snob chose is perfect and would suit me to a T.

I have a feeling that bags will feature heavily in Friday Drool.

Tiesto ft Nelly Furtado

I love Tiesto, oh yes I do...  I also did have a Nelly Furtado moment a while ago too but together I'm not so sure on the result.  The song just seems so commercial for Tiesto but at least the story is vaguely interesting.

Splish Splish

What a gorgeous way to spend the morning!

I bundled up BuBba and drove for Shelley Beach.  I always intend to get to places early but now that I'm working on baby time, I inevitably end up at least an hour later than what I had planned.  So by the time we reached Manly, parking was non-existant and off we went round and round and round and round in search of a park.  Once the elusive spot was found, off we went for our beachside walk.  The plan was to walk up to Shelley Beach, then turn back and go all the way down to Queenscliff and return.  Well we got a little further than Shelley Beach before I decided to take photos of the waves crashing over the rocks.  With my little point and shoot in hand, I changed the settings to continuous shoot and tried to capture the waves rising and falling.  The above picture shows my success.

Not long after that wave crashed down, the water splashed all over the walkway and with a surge drenched my shoes and socks all the way through.  Our walk had ended abruptly so BuBba, my squelching, dripping shoes and I trundled back to the car.

And you know what?  Even though the morning did not go to plan, I enjoyed every single moment of it and as I write this, I have a smile on my face thinking how beautiful the day was.

And the fashion Golden Globe goes to...

WOW WOW WOW!!!!

Chloë Sevigny is just GORGEOUS in this silver-lilac Valentino gown.

Love it and all the ruffles!

Oh and she also won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.

Shhh.... Mummy has a headache

Uh oh... Mummy overindulged in a bit too much wine last night. I dunno, I just got carried away playing Super Mario Bros on the Wii with Daddy BuBbles which probably explains my lacklustre performance.

Time for some panadol and a kip methinks...

BuBble's Harvey Wallbanger

There's been a sad old bottle of Galliano sitting in the back of our liquor collection for a long long looooooong time now so on a whim, I whipped up an easy peasy cocktail to satiate my alcohol cravings.

BuBbles Harvey Wallbanger

5 parts Orange Juice

2 parts Absolut Vanilla Vodka

1 part Galliano

Pour vodka and orange juice over ice cubes stir then layer the Galliano on top.

*We didn't have any ice cubes so I just mixed up all the ingredients and poured in to a short glass and it was still delish!

Seriously.... where does the time go???

My little man, BuBba, hit the 7 month mark yesterday. HOLY SCHMOLY! It's just amazing how quickly the time goes by. One minute he had just popped out of my hoo har and the next he's rolling like a trooper and learning to sit. Next time I turn my head, he'll be 17 and going to clubs underage... not that his Mum ever did that - something that I can neither confirm or deny.

Just Do It

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up irl with a group of Mummies that all frequent the same parenting forum. I had met a couple of the ladies many many years ago when we were planning our weddings and we have all naturally progressed to become parents so it was lovely to catch up with them again.

Also lovely was the chance to meet new people - all at similar stages in life with new little bubbas trying to find their footing in the parenting game.

Meeting new friends can be difficult, especially in this city, which is why I jumped at the chance to put myself out there. For that opportunity, thank you!

And so here it is...

...my New Year's Resolution!

Apart from the usual "lose weight" resolution, my main one this year was to start a blog and well, if you take that literally, I've started, which means I've succeeded in making one resolution come to reality already. Woohoo, I so rock! I do however intend to keep this blog updated regularly for at least a year so wish me luck.

Oh, and my other resolution this year - to improve my photography skills. And I am so so hoping that I can begin to do that when I get given a *cough* surprise *cough* DSLR for my birthday which is only 4 weeks away. The subtle hints to Daddy BuBbles have already begun but I think I might have to get a bit more subtle with a sledgehammer in the next couple of weeks, if you get my drift. /wink
