Out of Whack Wednesday

Honestly, I'm surprised that I even know it's Wednesday today.

Today actually got off to a great start.  I was startled awake by Daddy BuBble's alarm at 7am this morning - holy heck, 7am!  What is this foreign time???  You see, BuBba doesn't sleep through all too often and when he does, he usually wakes between 5am and 6am.  In my sleepy haze, when I finally comprehended what the actual time was, I started to worry about BuBba and so I went to check on him and there he was, in his cot, on his belly, just checking out the world.

I suspect he hadn't been awake for long because he still had those cute little sleepy eyes but it was time to start the day now.  You'd think with a nice little lie in, he'd be in a great mood and I'd be feeling refreshed but a big NEGATIVE to both of those, for both of us!

We've both had brekkie, BuBba is asleep now and I've even managed a quick 15 minute kip and when he wakes, we shall start the day again.

So much to do and so little time...

Goodie Goodie Yum Yum

Yay, I finally made it!  Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Some scrumptious looking toasted meringue-y thingamajig - I haven't tried this yet.

Being the novice to Adriano Zumbo, I failed to take down any details thinking that all these little morsels of heaven would be featured on his website.  Hrmmm, oh how I was wrong.  Thank goodness for Zumbo devotee, Belle at Ooh, Look..., otherwise I would have had no idea what was in the above pictured Marry Me Ed.

And now for the train wreck but my gosh, they were delicious!

The poor little things didn't fair well on the trip home so naturally, I had to put them out of their misery and ate them eagerly.  On the left is Dr Apple (thanks again Belle) and the right was an equally delicious berry surprise.

So yeah, you can tell I am definitely not a food blogger* but I do LOVE my food and I have a strong feeling that Adriano Zumbo Patissier should be expecting regular visits from me in the near future.

*If you want to see some real food blogging, have a little look see at some of my favourites:  Ooh, Look... (as mentioned) , Not Quite Nigella and  Iron Chef Shellie.

Please Come Again

The weekend, that is.  This weekend just gone was the first that Daddy BuBbles hasn't had to bury his head in the books for a long, loooong time and it was fabulous.  I'm so proud of him though - he has just finished a Masters Degree in Applied Finance and he's such a smarty pants but terribly modest about it all.

This week's Point + Shoot was taken yesterday morning when we met up with friends for breakfast by the beach.  It was such a perfect day.  The rest of the weekend was spent taking walks, having coffee, catching up with more friends we haven't seen in ages and a bit of relaxing here and there.

Adios university, I hope we don't see you for a while.

Friday Drool

At the top of my blog list currently is the ever so stylish Brisbane fashionista, Faux Fuchsia.  If you haven't checked out her blog before, I urge you to do so and have a little squizz at her life and musings - clothes, shoes and impeccable nail polish included.

Anyway, on to Friday Drool.  Faux Fuchsia documents her frocks and their origins and I was recently led to this Secret Haven of Designer Goods.  Ohhhh, thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Outnet is a spin-off of the amazingly chic and popular NET-A-PORTER.COM.  Basically, it sells heavily discounted designer goodies that are no longer current season but are still oh so desirable.

Jimmy Choo Spa Woven Canvas Sandals ~$AUD268 (50% off)

Calvin Klein Sculptural Fold Dress ~$AUD1020 (70% off)

Miu Miu Leather Slingback Sandals ~$AUD170 (50% off)

With the exchange rate as good as it is at the moment, designer goods never looked so affordable.

One of My Favourites

As promised, here is one of my absolute favourite wedding photos from the BIG DAY back in November 2004.

There is seriously no way I can stop looking at these photos over and over and over again.  Ahhhhhhhhh.....

The fabulous Cath & Rich at Vivid Photography were our wonderful photographers on the day.  Some of our friends were so impressed with them and their products that they also used Cath & Rich to document their wedding a few years later.

I can not sing their praises high enough and if you happen to be in Brisbane and planning on getting married any time soon, do yourself a favour and seriously consider Vivid Photography.

It's Here, It's Here!

What, what, WHAAAT?????

Our wedding images on DVD, that's what!

Why am I so excited?  Let me take you back to when we got married... over 5 years ago!  Yep, you read that right.  You see, Daddy BuBbles and I didn't scrimp when it came to our wedding photos.  No siree!  We spent an absolute packet and got a freaking amazing album full of beautiful, artistic and wonderfully composed photos.  After receiving such a fantastic album, we just never got around to getting any copies of our wedding photos.  *shrug*  I guess it seemed a bit strange (probably moreso for visitors) never having any wedding photos around the house but we always knew we'd get some eventually.

So now that the DVD is in my hot little hands, I'm going to get printing and start displaying these snapshots of one of the most wonderful days of my life (the birth of BuBba is up there too).

Oh and I promise to share some photos with YOU too!

Metal Head Chicks

My music tastes are extremely varied but have never extended as far as death metal.

But here is a lover of that particular genre.  Meet Death Metal Rooster!

(Before listening, make sure your volume isn't too loud otherwise you might wake up all the sleeping kiddies in the next suburb...)

Sunday Session

I've mentioned Smallbar previously here and we returned yesterday to sample the menu.  The food was nothing to write home about but still, it was nice to get out and enjoy a nice wine with lunch, with my boys.

I really enjoy taking part in Fat Mum Slim's Point + Shoot challenge.  It makes me try to find new and interesting photos to take and that can only be good, right?

Today's Friday Drool courtesy of the fabulous and talented Adriano Zumbo!

Nancy's Crumbed Cloud: Lemon curd, yoghurt, fresh apple, crumbed cauliflower meringue

Not Too S-H-A-B-B-Y: Flourless biscuit, muscovado crème brûlée, plantation chocolate mousse & chocolate malt crème legere (gluten free)

The chosen name for this last little tasty morsel makes me giggle...

My sister, hmm let's call her SiSsy, and I have been trying to get to Adriano Zumbo's Patisserie for about a month now but with her very busy schedule and my not so busy life clashing, we've had to cancel a few planned visits.

Next weekend my pretties... next weekend!

One of my new favourite songs.  How hot is her pink lipstick!  Wish I could pull that off.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.....

Making Lemonade from Lemons

BuBba and I hit up the Country Road sale today.  I had Daddy BuBble's blessing to treat myself but not to go too overboard...  Ummm oopsie...

Anyways, on our way home BuBba fell asleep and because he doesn't transfer well, I decided to take a detour and drive down to one of my favourite places in Sydney and let him sleep while I admired the view.

It's quite warm today so I left the windows open and the fan and radio on.  When he started to stir, I went to start up the car and was met with a click, click, click, whirrrr sound as the motor tried to turn over.  Hrmmm, flat battery methinks.  Not to worry.  The trusty NRMA man arrived in a speedy 15 minutes and we were then on our way.

It just meant that I got to enjoy the fabulous view and glorious weather for a bit longer than intended.  Can't complain about that!

Attack of the Massive

For Daddy BuBble's birthday, I bought him the most excellent of presents, if I do say so myself - tickets to see Massive Attack at the Opera House forecourt accompanied by yours truly.

Last night was the night and today's post was going to be about how awesome it was... how the crowd was heaving... how the sound was electric... how the weather and the view were perfect...

Alas, it was not meant to be.  We rocked up to our friend's apartment ready to put BuBba to sleep so we could head out and pretend we were normal again but BuBba had different ideas.  Very different ideas.  I don't know whether it was the borrowed portacot he didn't like or if it was the new environment but the proverbial sh!t hit the fan.  I couldn't leave him, I just couldn't.

In the end, our friend went with Daddy BuBbles to the concert and I stayed at the apartment with his partner and drank red wine, ate yummy pizza and watched The Hurt Locker, all the while BuBba was wide awake, crawling around and finding new things to play with.  He eventually fell asleep in my arms around 10 o'clock but not without a fight.

The little terror still woke up at 5am this morning!  And here I was thinking that I may have been lucky after last night's shenanigans and scored a sleep in...

Oh how I love him though.

At My House...

The end of my maternity leave is imminent.  I'll be returning to work part-time in just over a month and before I do, I think it's high time we go on our first family holiday.  The research has begun and this week we'll be booking a short sojourn in Fiji.

See those sunloungers there?  That's where I'll be taking up residence.  See that waiter there?  He's bringing me my mojitos.  Yes that's right, plural!

In other news, our new bedroom suite was delivered on the weekend and I lurvvve it!  The new mattress makes me feel like I'm sleeping on little clouds of fluffiness.

Is it wrong that I want to spend every minute of the day sitting/eating/lying/sleeping in it?

Friday Drool

With all the new season fashion hitting stores currently, I am craving some serious shopping action.  Sadly, with a few big bills to pay in the next couple of weeks including new tyres for the car and paying off our new bedroom suite (which gets delivered tomorrow btw!), I will just have to make do with window shopping.

Courtesy of Karen Cheng at Snippets of Life, I can do all of this with the power of my trusty little laptop and Freez online fashion shop and when all the bills are paid off, I can snap up these pretties and still have some change left over.

Here's a few of my favourites...

Have a great weekend my lovelies!

Happy Mail Exchange

In January, the lovely Fat Mum Slim organised the Happy Mail Exchange.  Being new to blogging, I'd never participated in one of these goodie swaps but I had heard of them so jumped at the chance to join in on the fun.

Today I received my parcel and boy was I spoilt.  Big shout out to the VERY generous My Little Birdie for my fab, fab, FAB presents!

Here's some piccies...

Wowsers, check out how many pressies there are.

After unwrapping all of them, I was privileged to receive a desk calendar full of gorgeous shoes (ahh, you're a girl after my own heart little birdie), 3 different flavours of chocolate covered coffee beans and some coffee cup earrings, a cute Kikki K post-it note pad and matching pen, a wooden letter "S" which went straight on display on our new bookshelf, a beautifully handmade fabric pouch (sorry, words escape me but I know there's a more suitable word for it) and a really and truly fabulous gift for BuBba - a handmade plush elephant that already BuBba absolutely loves.  You should have seen the smile on his face!

BUT, I've left the best for last...

Ooooh, what could this be???

To put this simply, I was blown away!  In fact, I think I even loudly exclaimed, NO WAY!

Back in February, I blogged about these earrings that I was lemming.  My Little Birdie not only went and got them for me but she wrapped them in the most fantastic and creative way I have ever seen.  The earrings were packaged in a box and wrapped in fabric that had been printed with my blog from that day.  I'm afraid that the picture doesn't do it justice but hopefully you get the idea.

AMAZING!!!

Thank you so much Leanne for all your thoughts and effort and thank you so much Chantelle for organising and facilitating the Happy Mail Exchange.

Oh and if you were interested in the gift I bought for my recipient, have a little look see over here.

Bye Bye

Don't fret.  I'm only saying good-bye for the rest of Wednesday.

Motivated by the fabulous and inspirational Sunny Mummy, today is "Nothin but Mummy" Day and so I will be switching off the computer as soon as I finish here and get going with the rest of my day, sans PC.

I'm going to go to a Body Pump class with a friend (the first in a long while - ouch, this is going to hurt), go shopping for fresh fruit and vege and then cook up a storm in the kitchen.  BuBba is going to love all the meals I cook for him.

And just so you don't forget me between now and tomorrow, I thought I'd leave you with my all time favourite song in the whole wide universe.  Enjoy!

Adios and see you Thursday!

(My) Oscars Fashion Verdict

Oh lordy me, so many hits but so many misses.  Below I have handpicked what I think are the best and the worst of the fashions seen at yesterday's Academy Awards.  There is so much to comment on but if I do, this post will never end so I'll try and keep the comments short and sweet.

HITS

SJP in Chanel Couture - amazing dress.  Love the rear view and for once SJP's make-up doesn't make her look like one of the Witches of Eastwick.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries van Noten - she is one sexy Mumma in digital print.

Mariska Hargitay in Vera Wang - God I love this woman.  She is the epitome of bee-you-tee-ful!  A paper bag would look great on her.

Diane Kruger in Chanel - ruffles, detailing, halter neck, modern hair do, gorgeous lady - check!

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan Couture - gosh she's a stunner and she chose a perfect colour dress for her complexion.

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Haute Couture - I just love the flowy, ethereal vibe from this dress and can you tell I'm rocking the digital prints too?

MISSES

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Couture - what were you thinking honey? Did you get your inspiration from this little lady...

Mariah Carey in Valentino.  What a horribly boring dress.  The poor lady just can't get it right.

Jennifer Lopez & Amanda Seyfriend both in Armani Prive.  Did I miss the memo about 2010 being the year of the bubble wrap?

The other misses in my books were the majority of dresses in pale & skin tone colours - it's just not my bag baby...  Beautiful dresses but they just don't possess the WOW factor.

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab Haute Couture; Sandra Bullock in Marchesa; Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

Did you see some of the dresses that made an appearance at the Oscars After Parties?  Here's a few of my faves.

Lea Michele from Glee in Oscar de la Renta.  I think this is my ultimate favourite from the night.  Stunning, stunning, STUNNING!

Hayden Panetierre from Heroes in Amanda Wakeley.  This dress suits her new hair colour superbly.

Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham.  Someone get some pie in to this woman.

Hilary Swank in Armani Prive.  Damn, girl look fiiiine!

What did you think about the Oscars fashion and who was your favourite?  I had so much fun admiring the hair, jewels, shoes and of course the dresses.  Bring on 2011!
