Holiday Time

Weeeeeeeee, it's holiday time!  Tomorrow we leave for a week in Fiji....   Ahhhhh bliss...

I'm playing along again this week with Fat Mum Slim's Point + Shoot.  My bestie visited this weekend from interstate and Saturday was spent touring the Northern Beaches.

She's a bit of a closet Home & Away fan so we took her up to Palm Beach and the "Summer Bay Diner".  It's actually a beautiful deli/restaurant/fresh flower market called The Boat House and has a great display of colourful fruit, vegetables and flowers at the front entrance.

Friday Drool

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot to do Friday Drool!  

I'll be so glad when today is over - BuBba is sick and to say I am a little peeved is an understatement.  Two days at daycare is all it took for him to get sick...   Grrrrr...

Daddy BuBbles and I are majorly sleep deprived after getting up to BuBba about 42 million times last night so tonight is takeaway pizza night and I am drooling about all this fatty goodness. 

Right!  Off to get dinner.

BuBba's Godmother (and my best friend) is visiting from interstate so we'll be out and about eating, drinking and catching up.

Boy Oh Boy

What an emotional day yesterday was.  I purposely kept my post short because I knew I was being all emo and didn't want to spew out all my emotions on teh internetz but hey, isn't that what it's for???

Anyways, after many tears (mine of course) and discussion with Daddy BuBbles, we decided to send BuBba to only a half day of childcare today.  To be honest, we should have done that yesterday and it probably would have saved us a whole lot of hassles and trouble.  We were stupid.

Good news today was that he was more settled and ate better.  Bad news always seems to go with the good though and we were told today that the nicest and loveliest carer there was leaving next week.  Isn't it always the way???

It's amazing how I've surprised myself with my own emotions and reactions to this whole childcare gig.  I thought I'd be all cool with it.  

But I'm not.  

Even though I'm only returning to work part-time, I'm not sure how long I'll last because I can feel the call of the Stay-At-Home-Mum yelling out to me already.  

Time will tell.

The Sky is Falling... The Sky is Falling...

Not in a million years did I ever think this day would be so hard.  

It's nearly dinner time but I've just put a completely exhausted BuBba down for a nap and I've just boiled the kettle for a much needed coffee.  I probably should use the water to brew some tea so that I can use the leftover teabags on my puffy eyes.

By the way I'm carrying on you'd think that the world had caved in or something as dramatic.  Well to me it was almost as dramatic...

Today was BuBba's first day at childcare.

Welcome to a new week everyone!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend just like I did. 

I'm a little bit sad today though because my mother returned home last night after spending a fabulous week with us.  We ate too many cakes, drank far too much coffee and did lots of fun, touristy things.  

The best bit though was BuBba getting to spend quality time with his Nan.  And she told me I was an excellent mother which just meant soooo much to me - my heart feels all warm and fuzzy.

On Saturday, we took a trip to Bourke Street Bakery and after picking up a mountain of pastries, headed across the road to devour them in the park.  

It was a glorious day and BuBba was free to (commando) crawl to his heart's content.

Tomorrow is a BIG day here and I'll be posting about it tomorrow afternoon.  Later in the week my best friend (and BuBba's godmother) will be visiting from interstate for the long weekend and I'm trying to work out ways to fill our weekend.

Friday Drool

Mmmmmmmm beer.....

If you've ever lived in London, you'll no doubt know what a Snake Bite is.  For the uninitiated amongst us, it is beer mixed with cider and grenadine (or red cordial).  It is sickly sweet and incredibly bloating but consuming one is almost a right of passage for an Aussie living in London and more often than not, one leads to another, leads to another, leads to another etc etc.

Imagine my surprise when I came across the Bazaar Beer Cafe's own version of the Snake Bite.  This one is lager and mango syrup but still tastes OTT sweet and YUMMY!

God bless BEER!!!

More Zumbo Goodness

Adriano Zumbo received another visit from yours truly yesterday with my mother in tow.  We share a love of sweets so naturally I had to take her.

Last night's dinner consisted of these tasty quiches and a side salad...

Chorizo, potato, capsicum & pesto quiche and blueberry & goat's cheese quiche

Burnt Orange

If you're ever looking for a place to take out-of-towners, look no further than the superb Burnt Orange.

For lunch I had...  "A salad of crumbled feta cheese, roasted beetroot, baby spinach leaves, crisp Packham pears and cashew nuts with caramelized red wine vinaigrette 16" and it was dee-lish!

 

Service was polite and efficient, the food was Tasty with a capital T and the view wasn't too shabby either.

Next time, breakfast will be on the menu...

A Quiet Busy Week

BuBba's Nan arrived from interstate on the weekend for a week long stay in the BuBbles household.  We haven't seen each other since Christmas and this week is chocca-block full of planned outings, including High Tea, a trip to Fort Denison and plenty of cakes and coffee.  

She has also kindly offered to look after BuBba so that Daddy BuBbles and I can get some time on our own, which is so rare nowadays.  So we're off to the movies tomorrow night and will be having a couple of quiet dinners out on our own.  However, with all these things planned, I will be endeavouring to keep my posts here short and sweet for the next few days.

Sydney is having some seriously gorgeous weather at the moment and I am loving it!

Friday Drool

Weeeeeeeeee...  Mummy gets to go out solo again tonight - second time in one week - holy schmoly!!!!  Ahhhh, the freedom...

Tonight's festivities involve meeting up with some visiting friends from Brisbane and eating until we're full as googs.  And guess what's on the menu???

INDIAN!!!!  /drool

My favourite Indian restaurant, that makes THE ABSOLUTE BEST masala dosai and butter chicken is Malabar at Crows Nest.

GaGa Rocks!

Oh my, what an extravaganza of glitter, butt cheeks and the "F" word.  Lady Gaga took her Little Monsters on a journey to the Monster's Ball and what a ride it was.

AWESOME!!!

I travelled light and only had a small shoulder bag with me so the only photos I got were from my iPhone and as you can see, they were from a distance.  The beautiful "lady" in the middle piccie certainly got her fair share of attention - I was trying to be inconspicuous when taking her photo but I think I got busted!

I sung my lungs out until I coughed and spluttered and drank a few too many brewskies.  My head is hurting now despite popping two panadol earlier this morning - sadly my body just can't keep up with more than two alcoholic beverages in the one sitting.  How things have changed...

Poker Face

Lady Gaga hits Sydney tonight for her third and final concert here (her last gig is in Melbourne on the 9th) and I AM GOING!  There, I admitted it!  And I can't wait...

Today's playlist in the BuBble's household will consist solely of Gaga - nothing more and nothing less.

I'm a simple girl (most of the time).  All I would like for Easter is today's Friday Drool...

Toys for BuBba

It's all too easy to go overboard with toys for babies, especially for a shopping junkie like me.  

In that respect, it's lucky that we live in an apartment and due to space restrictions, we do not have mountains of toys for BuBba.  Don't get me wrong, I don't make the poor boy sit and stare at a wall all day for fun - he still has two baskets full of toys but we're just more selective of what we buy for him.

Currently Huggies have a brilliant promotion running.  Collect a truckload of barcodes, send them in (along with postage costs) and then voila!  These little babies will be yours...

I'm pretty sure BuBba will be stoked when Mr Postman delivers these.
